Default My Netgear Router is blocking googlemail

Please can someone help - Netgear router is displaying a big black page with red writing on saying it is blocking the page when I try to access my googlemail - i don't have problems on other networks. This problem only occurs with Firefix - Internet Explorer works fine.

Hi Spotless, and welcome to us!

I'm not sure if it is a router problem - I would expect the router to either block or allow both browsers. However, a couple of things to check:

Open the configuration page of the router (probably192.168.2.1 for your router, but check the manual. Make sure you are not blocking Googlemail in the 'blocked sites' section. Then go to the "WAN Setup" option on the left of the page and enable the "Respond to Ping on Internet Port" option, then click Apply. Not sure why that should work but it seems to solve similar problems with Netgear routers.

Also, open Firefox and go to Tools, Options, Encryption tab and make sure 'Use SSL 3.0' is checked and click OK.

Do you have any addons installed in Firefox?
