A Mobile phone directory service will become operational in the UK as of June 18th. This has been set up as an Opt-out service which many are dubbing a total invasion of privacy.
I count myself in that group - if I wanted people to have my mobile phone number, I would advertise it. From the point this service is activated, you can expect cold callers on your mobile - be warned cold callers to my mobile: I don't want to hear from you and your organisation will be sent a bill for my time. To Opt-out call this number 0800 138 6263 or text E to 118800 from the mobile phone you want excluded from the directory. |

Welcome to us, Alan!
![]() Some telemarketers start at a certain number and dial each one in sequence, so nothing will stop that approach. Some people (mainly small businesses or one-man-bands) rely on a mobile for customer contact when working, so a directory would be useful to them. Personally, I loathe the things - I spend more money charging mine up than using it!
