Where Do I Start? Advice for visitors new to Bulletin Boards

Welcome to our bulletin board!


What is a bulletin board?
A bulletin board is an online discussion site. It's sometimes also called a 'board' or 'forums'. It may contain several categories, consisting of forums, threads (a collection of posts on the same topic) and individual posts.

If you have never before posted (the act of leaving a message for people to read) on a Bulletin Board, the whole procedure can seem a little overwhelming. Let us reassure you though that all of us here were once 'first posters'…

What you need to know:
We are a friendly and safe site with a strict Privacy Policy, this means you will not be spammed by us, we will not pass your information on to *anyone* and have taken steps to ensure that your information is kept secure and private as you intend. Our full Privacy Policy is available here for you to read should you have problems sleeping at nights.


First off - you will need to Register. Registration is Free!
In the bar across the top of the Forum Page you will see various Menu options: Portal is at the far left hand side, look for the option 'Register'.

You will need to enter certain information about yourself in order to Register:
First pick a username (*Don't* use your real name or email address - pick something fictitious and memorable to yourself ). Likewise, choose a password that you can remember (not your name or email address please ) and will be difficult for someone else to guess.

You can enter your age and name and other details, but most are not essential. What is essential is a valid email address, this is required for the activation email to be sent to you and for email notifications of replies to areas (threads) that you have posted to.

Without email verification, you cannot register with us. This is because we need (as with other Bulletin Boards) to eliminate the possibility of spammers using programs to register lots of usernames with us and leaving our bulletin board riddled with rude messages - we don't like those kinds of messages.

After you have Activated your account by replying to the email we send to you and your new userid has been approved by our staff (again this is to protect this forum from being riddled with rude messages by spammers) ...you are good to go...

If you are unsure and want to practice, we have a forum here called Testing, Testing where you can practice posting - the messages there won't be read by anyone, it is just there for practicing your posting skills.

Threads and Forums!

- a thread is like a conversation - someone starts with a topic and people add their comments to it. If there is a new topic, a new thread is started, usually within the forum (a collection of threads) which is related to the subject (a forum is like a thread bucket for collecting threads on a similar subject - threads about viruses in the security forum for example, threads about XP which contain useful articles under the XP articles forum... etc)

Motorbike info threads here would belong under 'Fun Stuff'. Have a look around just to get familiar with it!
